Job Description

The Virtualization Engineer is responsible for designing and building a consolidated data center. This role will serve as a Virtualization Engineer specializing in VMware virtualization technology or future virtualization technologies. The candidate will also serve as a secondary administrator role with responsibilities specific to backup, disaster recovery, and storage. The Engineer in this role will provide design, installation and support for virtualized server technologies based upon the VMware platform. Hardware knowledge will include Cisco UCS infrastructure as well as other bare metal technologies. Installation and support of various Server Operating Systems is also a prime goal of this position. The candidate will also serve as a secondary administrator role with responsibilities specific to backup, disaster recovery, and storage. Ability to support a 24x7 operation, with previous hospital experience being preferred.

-Serves as a virtualization lead specializing in VMware software defined datacenter (SDDC) solutions. -Ability to manage fiber-channel and iSCSI storage arrays -Ability to manage backup and disaster recovery technologies -Analyzes systems requirements in response to customer requirements, risks, and costs by working directly with management and system administrators. -Creates, updates, and follows SOPs and other documentation (ex. Change and configuration management.) -Translates complex technical requirements into actionable and sustainable tasks Deep understanding of -Virtualization and running guest operating systems in a virtual environment -Storage technologies such as RAM, Flash, spinning disk, optical, and magnetic -Storage quality, redundancy, optimization technologies, including RAID, replication, compression, and deduplication. -Microsoft Windows Server 2008-2016 file structure, registry, drivers, etc. Active Directory, including underlying technologies and Directory Server rolls -Certificate and encryption systems -Storage protocols, including, but not limited to, NFS, iSCSI, Fiber Channel, SMB -Application virtualization -Scripting and automation Moderate understanding of: -IP and IP related protocols
