Job Description

A client located in San Marcos, TX is currently seeking a Medical Billing/Coding Specialist to join their team! 

This employee is responsible for ensuring that health providers are paid for medical services rendered. This position is also responsible for the accurate flow of medical information and patient data between physicians, patients and third-party payers.

 

Minimum skills & requirements:


        
  • High School or Associate’s degree.

  •     
  • Three (3) years’ experience in billing/coding in the area of internal medicine, family medicine and/or emergency medicine.

  •     
  • Knowledge of patient insurances. Ability to provide instruction to the patients and their families regarding insurance coverage procedures.

  •     
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

  •     
  • Experience in using electronic health record software, eligibility and electronic billing.

  •     
  • Experience with MEDISOFT



Preferred


        
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)



Responsibilities/Duties:


        
  • Review patient medical records.

  •     
  • Code treatment information using Common Procedure Terminology (CPT) codes.

  •     
  • Communicate with medical billing specialists to ensure treatment codes are accurately received.

  •     
  • Review medical procedures as documented by therapists.

  •     
  • Translate medical procedures into codes that can be translated by payers, other medical coders and other medical facilities.

  •     
  • Transmit coded patient treatment information to payers and other recipients.

  •     
  • Handling patient billing.

  •     
  • Collects delinquent accounts by establishing payment arrangements with patients; monitoring payments; following up with patients when payment lapses occur.

  •     
  • Maintains quality results by following standards.

  •     
  • Protects practice’s vales by keeping collection information confidential.
        

              
    • Coordinate insurance reimbursement of care providers.

    •
