Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read engineering prints and work orders to determine assembly and material requirements.
  • Shovels or pours abrasives such as grit or shot into machine hopper.
  • Clean up as required to remove scale, slag and weld spatter.
  • Has the ability to operate any and all machines, from set-up to operation on assigned production line.
  • Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive laden to interior and exterior surface of parts.
  • Examines finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Selects and mixes coatings per manufacturer specifications.
  • Applies coating with airless and electrostatic equipment.
  • Cleans spraying equipment with solvent and performs normal equipment maintenance.
  • Cleans alloy metals with cleaning solution.
  • Maintain a safe work environment through following safety procedures and housekeeping

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or general education (GED)
  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as individually.
  • Basic knowledge of good inspection techniques.
  • Must have mechanical ability, an eye for abnormalities, and aptitude for detail.
  • Ability to judge areas of possible rework and plan and execute repair / rework accordingly

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole, fractional and decimal numbers.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Pass pulmonary test and work in a respirator.
  • Walk, must be able to move about inside the manufacturing and office and occasionally on a construction site or outside of the manufacturing facility.
  • Use hands/fingers to feel, handle and operate machinery, tools and dimensional equipment.  Reach with hands and arms.
  • Sit and stand -standing on concrete floor and uneven terrain will be required frequently.
  • Climb and balance, must climb stairs and work from ladders several feet above ground level.  Some operations require climbing through a 20” manhole.
  • Stoop, kneel and crouch or crawl.
  • Talk/hear, must be able to communicate with operators and management frequently and exchange accurate information.
  • Lift and carry weights 25 pounds regularly, 50 pounds frequently and occasionally with aid of others or lifting devices 100 pounds
